Journey to Nicole
April 16
Today we met in the lobby at 9am and went shopping. Tracy, one of our guides, called the place 'Old Town.' It was more like the China I expected to see. The China we have been in, thus far, has been large cities and skyscrapers. 'Old Town' is 1000 years old. It has walking lanes with shops on both sides.
After 'Old Town' Anne, Nikki, and I walked around the streets by the Hilton Hotel. We went in search of a new (very large) suitcase to carry all the souvenirs we purchased.
Later we walked out to the park by the Hotel. Every time we would stop walking a crowd would gather around us. Everyone was nice but we had no idea what they were saying.
We leave for Guangzhou tomorrow morning.
