Journey to Nicole
This morning we woke up at 3:30 am.
After quick showers and last minute packing we left for the airport around 4:15 am.
Thanks to Dad for dropping us off at the airport.
The flight from Cincinnati to Chicago was very fast. It seemed like as soon as the plane finished ascending to cruising altitude, it started descending.
We walked around the United Terminal for about a half hour until we decided to ask for some directions. After the second set of directions we finally figured out what was going on.
We took the tram to the International Terminal where we met up with 8 other couples who are in our travel group. Everyone seems very nice.
We are currently flying over the Pacific Ocean. The seats are cramped and the temperature is too hot.
We should be landing in Tokyo in about 3 hours. It will be around 12:45 am on 4/8/05. We then have a couple hour layover before we board another flight going to China.
We should be thoroughly worn out by then. Sleep seems unattainable at this point.
We have had a few instances of turbulence. But, overall, the weather once we left Cincinnati has been fine. There has been some very nice scenery out the window of the plane. We flew north west from Chicago, over Canada, over Alaska, over the Pacific towards Japan. I think I saw a polar bear out the window but I'm not completely sure. (by Dave)
We made it to Tokyo and had a three hour layover. We then were off to Beijing. The flight was around three and a half hours. We arrived in Beijing and were just overjoyed to hear - - "Welcome to CHINA!"
Dave and I had no idea we had it in us but we were awake for almost 30 hours! WOW - it has been a long time since we have felt this tired. But the excitement is keeping us going and we are just so, so happy to finally be here. We just can not believe it but we are finally here!!
Only 4 more days to GOTCHA DAY!!!
Big hugs and loads of love to all!!
Joe - Mommy and Daddy miss you so much!!
